The CW Is Developing SUPERMAN & LOIS TV Show With Tyler Hoechlin & Bitsie Tulloch
When Arrow started in 2012, they had to shy away from any reference to Batman or Superman. Two of DC's biggest characters were off limits, because they were to be saved for the movies. How times have changed. The Arrowverse has grown and evolved, and allowed Superman to show up in Supergirl and the crossovers. Now with Arrow bowing out, and Batwoman mentioning Batman every episode, the rules are different. That is why The CW is developing a show called Superman & Lois.
Tyler Hoechlin and Bitsie Tulloch will reprise their roles for the series. Deadline reports that Executive Producer of The Flash, Todd Helbing left that show to develop this one.
Superman & Lois revolves around the world’s most famous Super Hero and comic books’ most famous journalist as they deal with all the stress, pressures and complexities that come with being working parents in today’s society.
Last time we saw the characters in Elseworlds, they left the planet so Lois could have their baby. It seems the show will pick up with that. The pilot will not be a backdoor pilot on Supergirl, but will instead be its own standalone thing.
This plus the announced Canaries spinoff, marks a new era for the Arrowverse. It is expanding while still continuing the stories of existing characters. A Superman series is huge, especially with an already established Lex Luthor, Martian Manhunter, and other characters that appeared in Supergirl. It seems between Superman and Batwoman, it is only a matter of time before the Arrowverse finds itself a Batman to appear in both of those shows. A live action Batman series would have seemed impossible 3 years ago, but now with this, anything can happen.
You can next see Superman and Lois Lane in the 5 part Arrowverse crossover Crisis On Infinite Earths, starting in December.
