THE BATMAN: Colin Farrell In Talks To Play The Penguin
Matt Reeves is slowly but surely filling out his Batman cast. So far, the film will star Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, and Paul Dano as the Riddler. There are even discussions of Andy Serkis being cast as Alfred. The latest news is one of the most intriguing casting announcements in a long time: Colin Farrell as The Penguin.
Deadline reports that the Fantastic Beasts actor is in negotiations to portray the Batman villain. This wouldn't be the first time he played a comic book villain, he was Bullseye in the Daredevil movie starring another Batman, Ben Affleck.
It is definitely a unique casting choice for Penguin. If I were to guess what Farrell's role was in a Batman film, I would guess someone like Harvey Dent or Harvey Bullock. He is not what most people think of for a traditional Penguin role - people like Josh Gad and Jonah Hill are more in that realm. But I trust Reeves, and he seems to be crafting quite a treat for audiences.
Matt Reeves' The Batman hits theaters June 25, 2021.
